Help the frog hop along the number line, count things, skip count and go backwards. Play, solve missions, crack puzzles and beat the clock.
Start here. Counting means saying the numbers in order, one for each thing: 1, 2, 3. A number line is a road of numbers. Each hop to the right adds, and each hop to the left takes away. The frog starts on 0 and every hop lands on the next number.
Counting things. Touch each thing once and say the next number. The last number you say tells you how many there are. You can also count in groups: five groups of 2 make 2, 4, 6, 8, 10.
Skip counting. Instead of hopping one step at a time, hop in bigger equal steps. Hopping by 5 lands on 5, 10, 15, 20. Hopping by 10 lands on 10, 20, 30. Skip counting is the first step towards the times tables.
Going backwards. Hop to the left and the numbers get smaller: 100, 75, 50, 25, 0. Counting backwards is what subtraction looks like on a number line.
Below zero. The line does not stop at 0. To the left of 0 are the negative numbers: โ1, โ2, โ3. Hop 3 to the left of 2 and you land on โ1.
Try this above. In Play, hop by 5 four times and read the numbers. Then switch to hop by 10 and notice how the line zooms out. Count the apples, then try counting them in groups. On the hardest level, switch to the line from โ10 to 10 and hop over zero.
A number line is a straight line with numbers placed in order and spaced evenly. Numbers to the right are bigger, and numbers to the left are smaller.
Skip counting means counting in equal jumps bigger than 1, such as 2, 4, 6, 8 or 5, 10, 15, 20.
"Just starting" counts up to 20. "I know the basics" skip counts by 2s, 5s and 10s up to 100. "Challenge me" goes up to 1,000 with hops of 25, 50 and 100, counts backwards and uses negative numbers.
